There’s no denying that flying clubs make aviation affordable by sharing the fixed costs of airplane operation among a number of people. Active pilots are the obvious benefactors, as are lapsed pilots looking for a way to resume flying. This year's Young Eagle season may have ended for the Chapter,but it lives on in the minds of the kids. We have continued to receive phone calls and email from parents asking if there will be more flights this year (as of November). The efforts made by Chapter 790 members over the past few years have made a tremendous impact on the local, Lake in the Hills population. After a series of detailed meetings, and months of discussions of ideas and obstacles, the decision is in. EAA Chapter 790 will host a fly-in, pancake breakfast at Lake in the Hills airport.

Saturday morning, March 3rd, had about a dozen people in Mike Carzoli’s hangar at Lake in the Hills airport. We were gathered near the tail of a 1967 Piper Cherokee 180, held up on jacks, in the beginning stages of its annual inspection. I am one of five co-owners of N9741J which is based at The Landings Airport in Huntley. Mike was hosting a clinic on the nuts-and-bolts of an annual, using our plane as a case-study.

Saturday March 3rd starting at 9:30 AM, Chapter 790 has scheduled a visit to Blue Skies maintenance shop in Hangar P-64 at Lake in Hills Airport.

Overheard in flight planning, EAA Chapter 790 is discussing a joint Pancake Breakfast project with Lake in the Hills airport and the city of Lake in the Hills. Under consideration is the pooling of resources, the construction of a pancake turn-table grill, and more.
