Private pilot with a seaplane endorsement. I have since 1970 operated a resort so about 4 months of the year are needed to operate that business. This causes me to do most of my flying during the winter and colder times of the year, which to me is the ideal time to fly since the air is friendlier to flying conditions with a few cautions. My interest in aviation started when as a kid I would watch planes flying over head duing the big one WII. Models came next and then ownership of a Yankee AA-1B and finally the Zenith STOL CH701. I have rented my share of planes, mostly Cessna's 172, 150, and 152's. My passion's are motorcycles, planes and sailboats. In 2014 I added snow skis (Datum, brand name) to my Zenith STOL 701 for some extra fun in the winter, also it greatly increses places to land when airports do not plow their landing strips, for example lakes for a quick something to eat since most lakes do have resorts at the shoreline open in the winter for snowmobilers. Landing on a frozen lake sure draws the snowmobilers, which one must watch out for on landings and take offs. Wisconsin is good in most cases with landing of planes but Illinois has thumbs down (Illinois politics).
