EAA Chapter 790
Board Meeting Minutes
June 7, 2011
The EAA 790 Board meeting was held at the Schaumburg Airport and began at 8:05 p.m. Attendees were Nancy Blazyk,Glen Brisson, Lon Danek, Brad Delisle, Elton Eisele, James Pratt, Don Jenerick,Tom LeGates, Rob Nelson, Mike Perkins, and Shane Stolarik.
Yokes & Spokes: Rob reported there were 11 people and 6planesparticipating in the outing. Activities included visits to the RockRiver Canoe Company, the Hoard Museumand Velvet Lips restaurant for lunch, as well as a pleasant bike ride to andfrom the airport.
May Meeting: Nancyreported a great turnout, with many faces we have not seen recently. Weended up with more food than we needed, but probably better than the otheroption. For next month we discussed providing the meats to grill and havingmembers bring smaller dishes to pass, with a $4 or $5 fee to the members.
Treasurer’s Report: Lon reported our current financial positionisgood. He passed out a schedule of Library reservations through May of2012. He reported he and Glen have been working to revise our chapterby-laws, and will have a draft ready for discussion next month.
Chapter Scholarship: No applications have been received todate. Nancy indicated she hasone possible candidate, but we need to find more. Rob suggestedcontacting Beth Rehm, VP of the Galt EAA chapter, who works with the WoodstockAviation Club.
Next Meeting: Elton suggested we continue the informal “get to knowyour fellow members” format at the June meeting, and the board agreed.
Squadron 4: Elton reiterated the joint get-together will be6/28. We’ll provide drinks, they will provide the food. If possiblewe should provide a speaker for the meeting. We need to work with MaryAnne Basak for access to the building. Tom will distribute a reminder to thechapter about the event.
Young Eagles: Nancyindicated she has several requests already for rides on the 18th. She gota show of hands for those willing to fly that day. She was reminded thatwhen we need more of the Gleim books that we give to our Young Eagles, we canuse our YE points to pay for them.
Upcoming Meetings: Elton reviewed upcoming meetings. July willbe our pre-AirVenture meeting and August will focus on our AirVentureactivities. For September we will try to get a Lima Lima pilot. InOctober Steve Buss was suggested, also Jeff Skiles, but it was noted thathaving Jeff for our banquet speaker would be a better option. Other suggestionsfor future meetings were Buck Hilbert and folks from the local TV stationtraffic helicopters.
Camping: It was suggested that members interested in camping togetherat AirVenture this year should meet at the beginning of the June meeting tomake plans.
Work Weekend: Two members have signed up for this so far. Ourweekendis July 9-10.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
